Numeracy Resources for School Teams
This year the First Nation School Board is aligning with the Science of Learning to improve numeracy outcomes and meet the needs of our Learners.
As part of this work, new assessment, instruction, and intervention resources are being introduced to align with research on how we learn.
This direction is informed by extensive research on the Science of Learning, insights from numeracy leaders across Canada and North America, and feedback from school staff about what is - and is not - working in classrooms.
We take our responsibility very seriously and always strive to make the very best decisions for our Learners and Educators.

Assessment and Intervention
JUMP Math
JUMP Math will be introduced as the primary resource used for K5 to Grade 8 in the fall of 2026, as we continue to supplement Educators with Mathology resources.
In the 2027-28 school year, FNSB will be fully implementing JUMP Math as the core instructional program for all K5 to Grade 8 classrooms. This will include sequential lesson plans to guide a progression of skill and concept development, with clear explanations, explicit teachings, and student workbooks to practice problem-solving skills.

Integrating Indigenous Resources
These resources come from across the web and show how numeracy is embedded within First Nation ways of knowing and doing. Some are specific to Yukon First Nations, while others come from other cultural traditions.
